Use those Scraps

This weeks meeting we will be using our scraps to make card fronts. Please bring the following

1 All those scraps that you have laying around, no piece is too small

2. Various colors of card stock

a. We will be using the card stock for card fronts and

b. Matting those scraps
3. Scissors, glue, paper cutters, etc
4. Stamps, ink
5. Any embellishments you wish to use
6. Punches
7. Anything else you want to use on your card

I have included a few samples below.

I have posted the photos from Friday's meeting. Thanks Nancy the mosiac cards were such fun, as can be seen from the photos.

Instead of using a card sketch this month I thought it would be fun to do something differnt. I found this on the web, you make a card using the tic tac toe board. Pick any 3 either across, up and down or diagonally. If you want to do the challenge please bring your card to the February 10th meeting.

What great fun this Friday the 13th turned out to be. At our meeting today we decorated craft bags, thank you Carolyn and Shirley for supplying the paint and so many wonderful stamps. Happy New Year, hope everyoe had a wonderful holiday with family and friends. At Friday's meeting we will be decorating craft bags. The bags, the paint, and many stamps will be provided. If you wish you can bring stamps you might like to use. The stamps should have medium to large, solid images with no fine detail Below is a sample of one of the bags to give you an idea. Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving, it is now December and time to get ready for Christmas. This meeting is our Christmas Celebration. Please bring something delicious to share, homemade or store bought.

Since we won’t be creating anything it was thought that it would be a great time to plan next year’s calendar so please be prepared to share your ideas

November 11th Meeting - Tealights

For the next Seabreeze meeting, we will be making luminaries.
Bring a sheet of cardstock for each one you want to make. Lori will bring electric tea lights to put in them. The cost per tea light is 25 cents each. Carolyn will bring vellum and punches. If you have punches you want to use please bring them, they should be larger ovals or circles. Also you can bring scorers if you have one.

2012 Calendars

This past week we created 2012 calendars. Shirley provided the inspiration by sharing the wonerful calendars that she had made. Not only that, but she was nice enough to set up the tables with various stamps for us to use. It was like visiting a Stamp of the Month Club. I have added some pictures to our album. Thank you Shirley.

There was a lot to do this past meeting and we did not get to share all our creations so how about bringing your finished calendars to our next meeting.

Friday, October 28 Meeting

The project for next meeting is to make a calendar. Each person will get a set of calendar months
on cards and you can decorate them however you wish. If you have stamp sets you want to use for
any certain month bring them. We will also provide sets for you to use.

You should also bring ink pads and markers or colored pencils and any embellishment you would
like. Some of these will also be provided.

Cost for this project is $2.00.

In addition to Carolyn's demonstration on making pumpkins from coffee filters we will also be making a diorama card, below is a list of supplies. Punches and cutters will be supplied.

Diorama Card

Materials:
2 different papers (white and another color) 3” x 8”
1 two sided patterned paper 3” x 6”
Stamp set with small designs or large roller stamps (Think of something that would create a small scene less than 3” tall.)
Stamps with small messages.
Colored pencils or markers
Sequins, brads, other embellishments are optional.
Tape runner
Paper cutter

Method:
Score both the 3” x 8” pieces at 2 ½ and 5 ½.
Score 3’ x 6” piece at 1/½ and 4 ½.
Punch 1 ¾” circle in center of NON-white 3” x 8” paper.
Punch wide oval in center of 3” x 6” paper.
Stamp image in center of white 3” x 8” paper. Add small details and color.
Stamp message on front of colored paper near large circle.
Fold and glue so that the patterned section is in the middle, the white section is in the back, and the colored section is in the front of the diorama. Be sure that the diorama will fold flat for mailing.
Add embellishments.

World Cardmaking Day

I hope everyone had an opportunity to visit Lake Miona Rec Center last Saturday for World Cardmaking Day. It was a blast. Carol, Carolyn and Nancy presented demo's and Carol also set up a table for "new" stampers, it was a wonderful opportunity for those not familar with stamping to get an introduction to the world of stamping. Thanks to Lori we learned how to make magnets out of our wonderful paper creations at our last meeting using the xyron magnet cartridge. I would like to post pictures of these wonderful creations, however, I forgot my camera and used my phone camera, this turned out great but unfortunately I cannot get the photos from my phone to my computer, and believe me I tried and tried and tried. Lori also showed us a simple way to make gift bags.

Christmas Card Workshops

Carolyn is holding 4 Christmas card workshops, making 12 cards of 3 different designs. They will be held one at the send of September, two in October and one the first week of November.

The cost is $25 per workshop., If you take all 4 workshops you will have 48 Christmas cards of 12 different designs ready for Christmas. Never more than 6 people will be at any workshop.,

Well not really edible but there was a fantastic chocolate chip cookie inside. Thank you Shirley for sharing this wonderful card with us and also that fantastic cookie. I already ate mine, ran home and made a nice cup of tea and enjoyed that cookie.

Sketch Challenge

I would like to know if anyone would be interested in a monthly sketch challenge.

I will post a sketch on the first of the month, you can bring your card to the last meeting of that month. For those doing the sketch you would put your name in a “hat” and as your name is drawn you would get to pick one of the cards made from that sketch. Each month you would have the opportunity to take home a beautiful card created by one of the Seabreeze Stampers.

We could also theme the sketch, for example, September’s Card could be Halloween or Fall. October’s card would have a Thanksgiving theme, November would have a Christmas/Holiday theme, etc. Please let me know if you have any interest at our meeting on Friday. This would be the sketch for September

Hi Stampers,
I'm sorry there are no pictures from the last meeting. I'm having
problems with my computer and can't get the image thingy to work.
At our next meeting Shirley Knight will give us ideas for making cards
with wallpaper.
Please bring 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 pieces of cardstock for your card bodies,
scissors, cutters and gluesticks which Shirley says is the best way
to adhere the wallpaper to the card.
Shirley will be bringing wallpaper samples but if you have any please
bring them also.

Embossing at May 27 Meeting

Last Friday Daryl showed us two different embossing techniques. The first is inlaid embossing. We punched circles of various bright colors and adhered them to black card stock. Then we ran this through the Big Shot machine using the Square Lattice embossing folder.

The second card used the Emboss Resist technique. We stamped a flower image using Very Vanilla craft ink on Very Vanilla card stock. Then we heat set using clear embossing powder. After the images had cooled we sponged ink over the embossed flowers. The clear embossing will "resist" the color and make the flowers pop.

The card kit challenge was a great success at our meeting on Friday afternoon. It was so much fun to see the different designs. We have some very talented members in this club. Check out the creations.

The next meeting for the Sea Breeze Stampers will be this Friday, April 22. We will meet at 1:00pm. Since this is a stamping club I thought we should just spend our time this week stamping. I'm offering a card kit challenge for the afternoon. I have many, many card kits left over from various classes and workshops. Each kit will consist of several varied sizes of card stock and sometimes designer paper. I'm challenging you to see what card you can come up with using your choice of card kits. We can help and inspire each other. I have lots of different color combos so I'm sure you'll be able to find a card kit to go with any ink pads that you bring.

Supplies to bring:

A variety of stamp sets and ink pads.
Miscellaneous embellishments and ribbons.
Your favorite adhesive.
Basic tool kit (scissors, bone folder, paper trimmer, etc.)

I'll bring along several different stamp sets also so I'm sure we'll have a great collection to choose from. Come and join me. I know we'll have lots of fun.

Lots of Birthday Candles

At Friday's meeting, Doris showed us how to use Stampin' Up!'s Pick A Petal stamp set to make the flame of a birthday candle.

It's always so much fun to take a stamp and use it in a different way than it was originally designed. It was a great demo and we had lots of different versions of this candle. Thanks, Doris, for helping us all to create something new and unique.

an exacto knife (not scissors)
cutting board
(we can share these if you don't have one)

6 strips of colored paper measuring 1 x 6" each
3 different coordinating patterns/colors
(you may want to bring whole sheets and we can trade and share colors)
paper should be thin such as tissue paper or wrapping paper

Sorry I'm so late in posting. I'm still missing Carol to help.
This week I'll show you how to use lace and glitter to make an accent for
cards. Some of you saw this procedure demonstrated on our bus trip. I will
bring the lace and glitter and some designs with stamps to go with them. If you
wish to make a card (s) bring cardstock - 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 for card body, 4 by 5 1/4
for one layer in a complementary color, and white. I will also have cardstock for
you to buy.

We will start the New Year out with a punch, well actually several punches. I am bringing as many of my punches as I can manage to the meeting and scrap paper for you to use with the punches. Please bring your punches and scrap paper, also. I will show you some examples of what you can make and then we will play.
If you want to make whole cards please bring two or three sheets of cardstock in coordinating colors. I will also have some for sale.
The meeting starts at 1: 00 PM. on January 14.

Bonus Demo for Friday's Meeting

I had a card on display at SeaBreeze on 11/26 that several people asked about. It was a card I had made in one of Carolyn's classes a couple of years ago. This is the card.

Carolyn will demonstrate this technique after we have finished with the heart pop-up cards. If you would like to make one of these cards bring a stamped image and some card stock. Carolyn will provide the adhesive and the glitter.

Don't forget to bring $2.50 for the card kit for Kathy's adorable heart pop-up cards. And, as always, we'd love to see what you have been working on. Bring some samples for our display table.

Next Meeting

The next meeting of the SeaBreeze Stampers is Friday, December 10. We will meet at the Sea Breeze Recreation Center at 1:00 pm.

We will be making a pop-up heart card. Aren't these just so cute?

Kathy will be bringing kits for making this card. The cost is $2.50. Please bring correct change if possible. Also Kathy mentioned that you should bring a piece of cardboard if you can. Her suggestion was to use a piece of cardboard from a cereal box. As always, please bring your own scissors and adhesive.

We will also be showing some gift card holders. If you have any that you have made please bring them to show. Hope to see you next Friday.

Digital Software Demo at next meeting

Carolyn will be giving a demonstration of My Digital Studio at our meeting on Friday. This software is offered by Stampin' Up! and can be used to create digital scrapbook pages, greeting cards, photo albums, and other projects. This software is currently being offered at a 50% discount so this is a great time to see what is included and how easy this is to use.

We hope to see you on Friday afternoon at 1:00. Don't forget to bring any samples that you want to include on our display tables.

The next meeting of the SeaBreeze Stampers will be Friday, November 26, at 1:00pm at the Sea Breeze Recreation Center. Since this is the day after Thanksgiving and several people will be out of town we are just offering an open stamping session. Bring something you are working on and just stamp and chat. I'm hoping to finish my Christmas cards that day.

Even if you don't have a project to work on stop by for a visit. There will be coffee and treats (like we'll need anything after Thanksgiving!) and I'm setting up my Christmas Display with a lot of stamped and papercrafted decorations as well as over 50 Christmas cards.

How about you? Want to add to the Christmas display? We love to see everyone's ideas. Please bring something to show everyone if you can.

At this meeting we will be decorating the gable boxes that we ordered a few weeks ago.

There will be additional gable boxes for sale at the meeting. The cost is $1 each. Bring whatever you want to use to decorate your boxes.

Blessings Box

One of the items on the display table at today's meeting was a Blessings Box that Shirley had created.

Several people wanted a copy of the Blessing Mix printed on the front of the box. Shirley gave me a copy so I could post for all of you.

Blessing Mix

The bugles are a symbol of the cornucopia, a horn of plenty.
The pretzels represent arms folded in thanks and prayer.
The candy corn reminds us that during the first winter, the Pilgrims were allowed only five kernels of corn per day because the food was scarce.
The fruit is a reminder that Thanksgiving is the celebration of the harvest.
The peanuts represent seed, the potential of the bounteous harvest of the next season if they are planted and well-tended.

Beautiful Backgrounds

At today's meeting two different background techniques were shown and then everyone had a chance to try creating these beautiful backgrounds.

First, we were so pleased to have Carolyn back with us. She demonstrated the Faux Marble technique (also known as Polished Stone).

And if that wasn't messy enough, Shirley then showed us the shaving cream technique.

We created so many unique designs. If you were at the meeting we expect you to create a card (or two or three) using your new background papers and bring them to our next meeting on November 12. We want to see results!

For this meeting Shirley will be demonstrating stamping on candles.

Here is the list of supplies you should bring:

Pillar candles, white or offwhite (dollar store variety is fine, Walmart has short ones for $1.88 and tall ones for $2.88)
Rubber stamp that will fit on candle
Ink (your choice)
Heat Gun
Scissors

We will also be using tissue paper but that will be supplied.

Explosion Card

One of the projects from Friday was an Explosion Card. Here are some instructions to help you make your own card.

MEASUREMENTS

Card Base - 4" x 12" (score at 2", 6", and 10")

Designer Paper - Cut (2) pieces 3-5/8" x 3-5/8"

Cut one of these into (8) triangles

Cut one of these into (4) triangles (you will use 2 of these)

Designer Paper - Cut (2) pieces 1-3/4" X 3-5/8"

Designer Paper - Cut (1) piece 2-5/8" x 2-5/8"

Never Ending Fold Card

This was a really popular card at our meeting on Friday. It can be frustrating to get the base of this card started correctly. But once you have it figured out it is just too much fun.

Here's a quick tutorial if you still need help with this card.

Start with (4) pieces of 3" x 6" card stock for the base of the card. Score each piece at 1-1/2" and 4-1/2". Apply Sticky Strip in the top left corner of one piece. (You really need to use a strong adhesive like Sticky Strip so this card will stay together once you start folding it.)

Attach another piece vertically over the horizontal piece that has the Sticky Strip on it. It is very important to get the corners of the two pieces attached perfectly square.

Apply Sticky Strip in the top right corner of the horizontal piece.

Adhere the second vertical piece by first butting the two middle edges together.

Flip the card over. Apply Sticky Strip to the bottom two corners.

Adhere the final piece by first butting the two middle edges together.

Start folding the card by opening it from the middle and folding the top piece up and the bottom piece down. You continue to fold this card by always opening from the middle and folding away from the middle.

You're now ready to add additional card stock, designer papers, ribbons, buttons, etc. This card really works best if you have at least two layers on each section.

3-D Christmas Trees

At our last meeting Kathy shared the pattern for her 3-D Christmas trees.

This card can be made with one, two or three different cardstock patterns. As long as you make each piece all the same size squares it will come out perfectly.

Fold each square into a triangle. Tape the right edge of square 1 to square 2's fold. Then square 2's right edge gets taped to square 3's fold. On the inside of the card just put a little piece of tape to keep the two corners down.

This pattern is a 5" square & will make a 5X7 card.

The second pattern is 3-3" squares that will make a 3-1/4"X4-1/4" card.

Once your squares are folded and taped together you can then open it and put your own sentiment in there. You can also put a little note. . . "slip the top right corner into the slot".

Embedded Embossing

At our meeting on September 10, Lori showed us how to make embellishments for our cards using the embossed embellishment technique. This was a lot of fun and so easy when she used the melting pot.

The next meeting of SeaBreeze Stampers is Friday, 9/10. The meeting is at 1:00PM at the Sea Breeze Recreation Center. We will have a demonstration from Lori on embedded stamping.

The supplies you should bring are:

1-1/2 to 2" square stamp with a deep impression
Cardstock: 4" square or larger
Additional card stock and embellishments to finish your card

What a fun meeting!

We had such a great time at our meeting last Friday afternoon. First Lori showed us how to make a magic money card. There were many confused looks around the tables for awhile until we figured out how to actually make this card work.

I have looked for a video or tutorial on this to post here but have not been successful. If you know of one send me the link and I will post. I've talked to some people that have been making these at home now that they know how. You have to come back next time (Sept. 10) to see what Connie came up with!

Then Carol showed us all how to fold a paper shirt. These are adorable.

She sent me a link to a YouTube video for this. It's not quite the same as her demo but you can use it if you can't remember what we did on Friday.

Several people were also duplicating a 3-D Christmas tree card that Kathy brought for display. If you would like to make one of these at the next meeting, bring (3) 5" square sheets of double-sided paper.

The project for this week is a Money Card.

Please bring the following supplies to the meeting:
(2) 3" x 6 1/4" solid color cardstock
(4) 1" x 5" decorative paper (cardstock, mulberry, parchment, etc.)
and the usual tools: scissors, double-stick tape, etc.

You should bring extra paper (cut to size) to make a sample to take home. You can bring stamps to finish the card.

Also don't forget we will be ordering the gable boxes for decorating at a future meeting. You can read more about that by in the post directly below this one. Please be prepared to pay $1 for each box that you order on Friday.

Upcoming Project

At our last meeting, Shirley introduced a couple of future projects. One of the projects is decorating gable boxes. These are great to use at Christmas or any occasion to use like a gift bag. They are also great for giving homemade treats at the holidays or for a birthday. They come undecorated. We will order in bulk to get a great price and then spend one of our meetings stamping and decorating them.

Because we need to order these in advance, we will take orders for them at our next meeting, August 27. The cost will be $1 per box. Wouldn't these be great for the Christmas treats you give to all your neighbors? You may order as many boxes as you like. Payment for the boxes will be when you place the order on the 27th.

Great Results from a Great Meeting

The SeaBreeze Stampers had a great meeting last Friday afternoon. Lori showed the group several techniques using a brayer. Thank you to Lori for sharing your knowledge.

We had a few new people attend last week. Several people brought sample cards to display. Yay!! We love looking at everyone's work.

If you have your own brayer, you are welcome to bring it to the meeting to experiment with some of the techniques that will be shown.

Our stamping group will meet on Friday, July 9, 2010 at 1:00pm at SeaBreeze Rec Center.

This week we will be making Easel Cards. All samples demonstrated will have a Christmas in July theme. There will be directions for several sizes of easel cards presented. Here's just one example:

Please bring the following supplies with you to the meeting:

Two sheets of cardstock in coordinating colors
One sheet of neutral card stock
A stamp that will fit into a 3" to 4" square
Ink pads for your stamped image
Scissors
Adhesive (you might want to use tacky tape to assemble the easel)
Pop dots or dimensionals
Any ribbons or other embellishments you would like to add
